Dubai Entry Permits Explained: 30-Day, 60-Day and 90-Day Options

Understanding UAE Entry Permits

Planning a trip to Dubai or anywhere in the UAE means sorting out your entry permit first. The UAE offers a variety of visa options depending on how long you plan to stay, your nationality, and the purpose of your visit. For many nationalities, obtaining a visa is now a quick online process.

The key is choosing the right visa type from the start. Upgrading or changing your visa after arrival is possible but more expensive and time-consuming.

Visa-Free Entry Countries

Citizens of over 100 countries can enter the UAE without a pre-arranged visa. This includes all GCC nationals, EU member states, the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and many others. The standard stamp grants 30 days, but some nationalities receive 90 days automatically.

GCC nationals from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar have no visa requirements at all and can enter with just a national ID card.

30-Day Entry Permit

Who Gets It

The 30-day visa is the most common entry permit for short-term visitors. Passport holders from eligible countries receive this automatically as a stamp on arrival. For nationalities requiring a pre-arranged visa, the 30-day single entry permit can be applied for through airlines, hotels, or travel agents.

Cost

Free for visa-on-arrival countries. Pre-arranged visas cost AED 350 to AED 500 through airlines and travel agencies. Some hotels arrange these free for guests.

Extension

Can be extended once for 30 additional days at approximately AED 600, done through the ICP website, GDRFA offices, or authorized typing centers. Apply before the permit expires to avoid fines.

60-Day Entry Permit

Who Gets It

The 60-day entry permit is available to all nationalities and is popular with digital nomads and those exploring business opportunities. Apply online through the ICP portal or authorized travel agents.

Cost

AED 600 to AED 800 depending on the processing channel. Express processing available for around AED 200 extra.

Extension

Can be extended for an additional 30 days at AED 600, giving you up to 90 days total.

90-Day Entry Permit

Who Gets It

The 90-day multiple entry visa is ideal for frequent visitors and business travelers. It allows multiple entries within the validity period. Some nationalities including EU citizens receive 90 days on arrival automatically.

Cost

AED 1,000 to AED 1,500 depending on processing channel and speed.

Extension

Can be extended through ICP or GDRFA. Many people do a visa run, briefly exiting and re-entering to reset the period.

Five-Year Multiple Entry Tourist Visa

For frequent visitors, the UAE offers a five-year multiple entry visa allowing up to 90 days per visit with unlimited entries. Cost is AED 2,000 to AED 2,500. Excellent value for visitors coming more than twice a year.
